When we met with this couple, I knew this was going to be one of our favorite weddings ever. And I was not proved wrong! They wanted to elope in one of their favorite spots, the Pacific Northwest. When we visited last summer, we fell in love with Washington and it became one of our favorite spots too! We instantly clicked with this fun couple and looked forward to this trip for months.

Finally it was here and we were flying to Seattle. Seattle is such a fun city, full of amazing music, beauty and laid back people. Plus, when the clouds clear, you have an amazing view of Mt. Rainier as you’re driving along the highway. So cool!

Their day started with rain and we were kind of worried that we’d be using umbrellas for the ceremony. But it all went away just in time for the ceremony. They found this secluded spot in a state park that already had pews set up like an amphitheater. It was a clearing surrounded by trees and it was like we were tucked away from the world. Just the two of them and their closest friends and family. It was totally chill, laid back and informal. The most stress free wedding I’ve ever seen. And really, that’s the biggest draw of an elopement. No huge wedding where you think you have to do all of this stuff for your guests to have a good time. In reality, they just want to be with you in a cool place and eat and drink with you. That’s what is important! Making those memories not Pinterest worthy details and set ups.

Kitsap Memorial State Park in Poulsbo was the backdrop for all of our couple’s portraits. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful before than those forests and that water. How can you have bad photos with this place?! Huge trees, greenery and that water set the scene for their wedding and it was everything that they loved and wanted! We walked around and explored and really, just had fun. Your portrait session at your wedding shouldn’t be rushed or full of forced awkward poses. It should be representative of YOU! You should have fun and laugh and celebrate the fact that you are married!! If your timeline is full and tight that you have no time for their two of you, then you need to rearrange some things. We love being the ones who get to share those moments with you and create beautiful images that you get to have forever.

If you are down for a stress free wedding and want to get married in an amazing spot, you may want to check out adventure elopements. Save money on those venues and tons of flowers and rentals. You won’t need it when you have mother nature as your altar and that scenery as your backdrop. And we would love to be your photographer and videographer to go explore with you!
